What is the Eastern Orthopaedic Educational Foundation, Inc. (EOEF)?The Eastern Orthopaedic Educational Foundation, (EOEF) was established in 1998 by Dr. Chit Ranawat. Dr. Ranawat, a past EOA President, understood the value of continuing education within the EOA and established a non-profit foundation to enable orthopaedists to give back to their profession. Through his continued efforts as Chair of the EOEF Board and those of the Board of Directors, membership and corporate sponsors, tax deductible donations to the EOEF enhance the development of and advances in orthopaedic education, patient care and medical research through grants and awards to orthopaedic fellows and residents as well as provide for educational speakers and special lectures at the annual EOA meetings. ObjectivesThe objectives of the Foundation are the advancement of education, patient care and research in orthopaedics through dissemination of knowledge by publications, seminars, lectures and other educational modalities, as well as grants and awards to selected orthopaedic fellows and residents who prepare and submit papers that, in the opinion of the Foundation, contribute to and enhance the advancement of orthopaedics. Why was the Eastern Orthopaedic Educational Foundation established?EOEF was established to create a not-for-profit corporation to support the educational aims of the Eastern Orthopaedic Association. When was the EOEF founded?The Bylaws of the Foundation were prepared at the direction of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Orthopaedic Association and approved on January 17, 1998. The EOEF was founded on July 17, 1998. The Officers of the EOEF were elected at that time.
